A little hiatus...

Steven & Lily Photography
There's no real topic I wanted to write about today, this is more or less just a post to pass along a
message:

This is going to be my last, regularly scheduled blog post for the next couple week. {Wait, I have a schedule to begin with? haha. Believe it or not, I do....But there are times when I get off schedule....}.  Our wedding is NEXT WEEK, so unfortunately, blogging will be one of the last things on my mind for now! Exciting times ahead! I do, however, have a post or two that I hope I'll be able to get up this week, but I'm not making any promises! Just keep a look out, and you may see a post up.

So, the official "Wedding Week" starts in 2 days, then comes Honeymoon Week {YAY JAMAICA!!!}, and then I'll most likely just need a relaxing week of just finishing up at work and being at home.  Once the next 2-3 weeks pass, I hope to have lots of pictures to share!! I'm planning to blog about the wedding {and that will definitely take more

Family Photos!

I have been SO determined to get these pictures posted no later than today!  I'm afraid that if I don't
get them up today, you won't see them until the Fall!!

Do you guys remember Riley?  I took some pictures of her back in December, after asking her mom, Kelly, if she'd be willing to let me "borrow her daughter" to have more practice taking pictures :)  Little did I know, that fun {but cold!} afternoon at Dorey Park turned into something greater! After seeing the pictures, Kelly asked me to do some family pictures for her!! I was so very excited to receive that message!  She wanted to get a bunch of family pictures done for her mother-in-law for Mother's Day, which I thought was a super fantastic idea!

Let me just start by saying, I had the most fun hanging out with these two families one afternoon down at Osborne Boat Landing, and there were times I literally had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard with them!  We did some family photos first, and then headed to the playground! Every kid's dream, right? Playing on the play ground because

Our First Home!!

This week has seriously been some kind of a whirl wind!really had to make sure I made time to have a blog up today, because I have some super exciting news!!!! I'm not sure how many people already know this, because we didn't tell too many people.  Last night, Matt & I closed on our very first home!!
Crazy busy......those are really the only two words to describe it!! But, I

Back in December, we already knew of a house that we could potentially rent/buy and would eventually go and take a look at.  It belonged to one of my dad's friends, and let me tell you, the whole process seemed a lot more reassuring {at least to me} because we knew the owner. In either January or February {I can't remember..all the months run together for me now}, we went with all our parents to look through the house and Matt & I really fell in love with it! It's so great for us!  After the long process of all the "house buying" things that need to be done and looking at the price, we knew we wanted to buy it.

Q Barbeque!

Whew! Today was busy!

I left work early so that Matt & I could rush off somewhere that closes at 4pm! (Seriously, who closes at 4? Even FARMVILLE is still open at 4:00pm!!)  We drove out to the Henrico County Courthouse to get our Marriage License, so now we can really get married in 19 DAYS!

After that, we went over to Bed, Bath and Beyond to add a couple more things to our registry (no, not being selfish, it was just stuff we never registered for in the first place, because we weren't sure how everything was working out..), and also picked up a big 'ol sample pack for our Keurig! We're so excited! haha

Friends Friday

With four minutes left of the day, I realize today is supposed to be Friends Friday.

Fail.

This week has been some kind of crazy, which would be why I didn't have a chance to think about it until so late tonight.

Since we're in prom season, I thought it would only be appropriate to share an episode of Friends that was pretty important to Rachel & Ross's relationship: The One With the Prom Video.  I know this isn't the best quality video, but you can still hear it pretty well, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Our 6 Year Anniversary!!

This past Saturday, Matt & I spent our last "free day" before the wedding to celebrate our 6 year anniversary a couple days early!

You see, on May 12th 2007, we went to our first prom together.  We were just "dating" at the time, and not officially "boyfriend and girlfriend."  After my dance recital, prom and a not so great after-prom, I took Matt home and then he asked me to be his girlfriend. So, it was the 13th.  Actually, yesterday, May 12, 2013, was the first date we had in mind for our wedding, as it was 6 years from our first prom together.  But, obviously, our minds changed, I wanted a more summer-y wedding, which is why we still have 26 more days to go until we say "I do."

On Saturday, we had one of our rare, yet favorite date nights.  We went to CinéBistro and saw Iron Man 3.  I sure do wish that CinéBistro wasn't so pricey because I sure do love it!! However, not going so often makes it more fun, special and enjoyable when we do go!  If you've never been to CinéBistro before, you can place your order and eat while you watch the movie! Pretty cool, right? haha.  This was our third time going, and it just occurred to me that we've only been to see superhero movies--maybe we should stick with that theme! We've seen The Amazing Spiderman, Batman, and now Iron Man 3.

Anyway, I enjoyed my faaaavorite meal there {okay, so I've really only tried two meals, but this one is amazing!!}, which is the BBQ Pork Rib Stack with their Signature Cherry Coke BBQ Sauce, and of course, Sweet Potato fries! yum yum yum! What was funny was that Matt had ordered a shrimp and salmon dish, and when the girl brought us our food {she wasn't the same person who took our order}, she gave Matt the ribs and me the salmon! Apparently, I must not look like a girl who enjoys eating ribs ;) haha.  So, we waited until she left before trading plates!

I mean, come on, just LOOK at this yummy goodness!

As for the movie? Holy cow, AMAZING.  By far my favorite of the Iron Man movies, and so much action!  I was blown away by so many parts in this movie and kept thinking to myself, "I did NOT see that coming!"  There was even a time in the movie where I leaned over to Matt and said, "That girl really freaks me out!" haha.  So, if you're debating on whether or not you should go see it, I highly recommend it!

Aside from our CinéBistro date this weekend, I guess I should write about how I can't believe Matt & I have now been together for 6 years.  Who would've thought that after playing a game with our moms at a Family Night Key Club Meeting, trying to convince Matt that he should go to Key Club Convention AND run for Key Club Vice President {I was running for President....haha}, that we stop calling each other "wack" and eventually fall in love. *insert "awwwws" right here*

I could ask for a better best friend & future husband, and I'm so thankful for all that Matt has done for me over the past 6 years!  That means, he sure has put up with a lot of the annoying things I do to irritate him intentionally ;) haha. This also means that this weekend was the last time we'll actually celebrate our May 13th anniversary.  Sure we'll always remember it - come on, you KNOW I won't ever let Matt forget!! - but starting next year, we'll have a new anniversary to celebrate!  I guess I can be okay with leaving one behind to start a new one ;) haha Love you, Matt!

Teacher Appreciation Week!

I sure was able to start working at Varina at a great point in the school year! My second week of work was Teacher Appreciation Week! And while I'm not a teacher, the PTSA does nice things for all of the faculty and staff! It was very nice! :)

Each day, we received nice surprises and it was always fun (for me, at least) to look forward to what each day was going to bring!

Plus, starting at the beginning of the week, I thought to myself, "I need to remember to take a picture of everything we get....this would make a good blog post at the end of the week!" haha.  But, did you expect anything less?? lol

And, since I work in the main office, it was also very cool to see the deliveries of flowers, edible arrangements, etc., for teachers from friends, family and students come in, and see how surprised they were to receive them! :)

1 month til "I do"

um...what?

In one month, Matt & I will be married?

Wasn't it just August 17, 2011 when Matt proposed?

....or January 2012 when I got my dress?

....or July 2012 when we had our cake tasting?

....or August 2012 when we took our engagement pictures?

I'm sorry, WHERE has time gone?!

As I was driving to work yesterday, I called Matt {he was already over 2 hours into his work day...} and said to him, "do you realize that a month from now, neither of us will be working/on the way to work, because we'll probably still be sleeping a little bit more or up by now {it was 7:40am when we talked} because we'll be getting ready for the rehearsal & wedding?!"

Cell Phone Evolution

It's always kind of funny to me to see how much technology changes
over time.  And most of the time, it's taking the bigger technology systems and making them smaller & capable of storing more information!

Think about it....I remember when iPods first started coming out.  I didn't get one of the first types, but I did get one eventually-a pink one.  All it had was the small black & white screen that showed the song titles and whatnot, and it was a decent sized device.  Of course, when the iPod nano came out later, {I eventually got one of these too, which I still use}, it made it seem like that originally iPod I had was just so clunky!

On the other hand, some technology just changes shape.  Remember the originally Gameboys? Then the Gameboy Color {I had the teal one!}, and a few years later, the Gameboy Advance {I had the light bluish/clear one!}, and now there are all these fancy Gameboy devices with two screens! In Target, you know how they have different gaming systems set up and you can test out some games? Well, those 2-screen gaming systems confuse me so much!! haha. Sad, isn't it?

Pin It Friday

I'm quite aware that I've been slacking in the blogging department this week. haha! But trust me, I've had things lined up to blog, just never got around to actually publishing the posts!

I also have many posts lined up for the remainder of May & the first week of June, but we'll see how many of those end up on here in the end!

Anyway, I wasn't sure what I was going to do for today's Pin It Friday, but then for some reason "bright colored flowers" just popped into my head, so that's what I went with! Enjoy some pretty colors I found on Pinterest this evening :)
