Pinterest Fails.

Brownie in a Mug
Many of the things I see on Pinterest are awesome! The food looks so yummy, the decorations are so festive, and the clothes make me wish I won the lottery and could spend it all on a new wardrobe.  I can sit on Pinterest for literally hours on end (but I don't) looking at anything and everything, hoping to one day make some of the things I've seen.  I've made a Christmas tree banner for my dorm room out of green paintchips from Walmart (which hung on my wall from November thru March! haha) and Matt and I made some DE-LI-CIOUS Taco Soup that can last us several meals (and tastes best when you dip Fritos in it! yummmm).  However, thing's don't always go *as planned*...even when you follow the directions.

For example: before leaving for Longwood, Matt & I made Brownies in a Mug for ourselves and Mom.  The recipe was simple enough...we just had to adjust the cooking time slightly to make the brownie cook all the way through.  The result? I could tolerate one bite.  What a waste.  But it was gross. No, not gross. It was straight up disgusting.

I then came across directions to make your own glitter.  It kind of puzzled me at first as to how this would even be possible, but I wanted to do a craft with glitter in the future anyway, so I thought I'd give it a try.  All you had to do was mix X amount of salt with X amount of liquid food coloring, mix it all together, spread out the salt on an aluminum foil covered baking sheet, and pop it in the over for about 10 minutes.  The result? THERE WAS NOTHING SPARKLY WHEN I PULLED THE SHEET OUT OF THE OVEN!! It just looked like, well, orange salt. End of story.

Finally, yesterday I wanted to try another simple recipe I found.  You slice strawberries and throw them on a baking sheet, and pop them in the oven for 3 hours on 210 degrees, and supposedly, they should have a similar taste to Twizzlers.  Well, when I opened the oven to check on them and saw this, I knew this was another Pinterest fail.  Granted, it was only

Cousin Love!

In this picture, all of our bathing suits and glasses were from Target,
so we liked to say, "we keep Target in business!
And, I'm pretty sure the 4 of us STILL keep Target in business! haha!
As the summer has been winding down, Mom and I have been going up to the pool more often.  This summer has been so busy that we didn't get around to going much.  Then, Abby worked at several pools this summer, so she never felt like going to the pool (not that I blame her, haha).  Anyway, we've been in the evenings right much the past few weeks and it is sooo peaceful!  Last night, we basically had the pool to ourselves (the only other people there were over at the baby pool, and then they left shortly after!), so we both got in, and propped ourselves up on the side of the pool reading.  The water was freeeeezing at first, and I did almost get attacked by this huge spider walking on the water (yes, like Jesus), but it was very relaxing!

Wedding Update.

This summer we've gotten a LOT of wedding stuff taken care of! It feels nice to be so accomplished on some things! Of course, as I mentioned before, I'm not telling a lot of the wedding details, because I want everyone to be excited & surprised the day of.  I love that about weddings--just waiting to see what's going to happen next....or what the first dance song is going to be....all that! And if you think you can figure out the details from my Wedding Ideas board on Pinterest, well, you can study that board all you want but I guarantee you won't see most of those ideas next June!  But, there are a few things I don't mind telling and they are:

A HUGE "Thank-you!"

In April of 2007, I remember driving up to church in the early morning, the Wednesday of Spring Break, to drop my sister off.  The youth group was heading down to Nagshead for a long weekend retreat and I was JEAL-OUS!!!  I had already committed going to something else, so I wasn't going on this trip (which was rare, because I used to go on just about EVERY youth trip!!).  However, later that day, Mom, Dad and I were driving down to William and Mary to tour the college.  This was the first college tour I was going on, so yes, I was excited, but I was still really bummed about not going to Nagshead.  I did take Mom's laptop with me so I could watch Cars on the way there (and back).  [Sidenote: I had just gotten the Cars DVD for Easter the previous weekend, and I watched that movie every single day of spring break. haha!]
