Saturday Morning with Maple

This morning, Matt and I went running at Dorey Park, but we didn't stay long before going back home and picking up our sweet Maple!  We've been wanting to take her to the dog park and today seemed like it'd be a good day. Unfortunately, there were several dogs there when we got back, and Maple is always iffy around new dogs at first, so we ended up not going in the dog park area and walked around in the field instead. She still had a great time!

Maple isn't too fond of car rides when she isn't in her kennel.

Hey you guys, what is this air blowing on me?! I've never liked this before!

I love how cute this picture is...she was just resting her head on his seat.

We sat in the parking lot in front of the dog park for a little bit, waiting and hoping that some people would leave with their dogs, but no such luck. Maple kept watching and whining the whole time because she wanted to play so badly, but she forgets how she acts around new dogs, haha. She was all over the front seats like, "let me out! I want to plaaaay!!"

"Come on, deddy, can't we go yet????"

Finally time to walk around..

And here's proof of our dog part dingo/kangaroo/jumping bean.
This is an everyday occurrence. haha.

So long, Summer

The sun has set on another fun summer!

We had a wonderful time in Disney, spent some fun afternoons at the pool, went to the river, played with our little Maple-cakes (the latter part of her name changes regularly), celebrated both of our birthdays, went to my family reunion, lots of family dinners, helped with Vacation Bible School, played volleyball, did a SPARTAN RACE and so much more!
(more to definitely come on the Spartan race!)

But, like all good things, summer is now officially over since students are back to school.
So, back to answering phones, looking up bus numbers, collecting cell phones (I got three today), writing discipline letters (none yet!) and lots of office pot-lucks! :)

Plus, did anyone else just see on the news that we had a record breaking temperature today? 101 degrees! Who would've ever thought that the hottest day of the summer would be on the first day of school? Not me, that's for sure! I'm ready for a little bit cooler weather, all things that come with fall, and, you guessed it, Christmas!!

78th Law Family Reunion

A couple weeks ago, we headed down to Eden, NC for our annual trip to the Law Family Reunion.  This is the family reunion for my Memaw's family, which is my grandma on my dad's side, for those who don't know.

We're lucky enough to be a part of a great, big family! My grandma is the youngest of 13!!!
Needless to say, when the 2nd weekend in August finally comes around, we all enjoy the time together, but it always seems to go by so quickly!

Friday night begins with dinner at Santana's mexican restaurant with a few family members. (Define "a few".... haha). Then, several more people get together to peel potatoes and prep everything for the stew on Saturday!

Saturday morning, bright and early, some of the guys meet up for a round of golf, which mostly ended up getting rained out this year.
During golf (but starting much later!) a handful of the girls get together for the Law Ladies Tea Party Luncheon.  (Keep in mind, that when I say "a handful" it can mean 20-30 people, ha!).

Saturday evening is The Stew, where we eat a great brunswick stew, hamburgers/hot dogs, and just great cookout food!  Sunday for lunch, there's an even bigger feast!!

I can't believe it, but I forgot my camera so there are very few pictures from this trip, so here are the ones I did take on my phone.

Saw this on the drink table...seemed appropriate!

Here's our Hampton Inn we always stay at, and we saw our favorite hotel lady, Myra, for the last time this year.
She's worked there for as long as we can remember, so when we found out she was retiring, we all said, "WHAT?!"

Victoria showing Matt her iPad..

I know it's blurry, but check out all that food for lunch! (You don't think we like chicken do you?)

Desserts..mmmm..

As we were getting ready to leave, I saw this plaque hanging up in the building, with a picture of one of my great uncles. Of course, I had to take a quick picture.
