Weddings, Halloween, LuLaRoe, and Everything in Between

Matt got a fryer for his birthday from my parents, and it’s been used several times just in the past week. Sunday morning, we didn’t have power for a while, so Matt used it to heat up water to make coffee & then made french toast! Yum! Last week, he surprised me one night and made fried Oreos..double yum!! I didn’t get them at the fair like I usually do, because I just couldn’t bring myself to spend $5-$6 on 5 Oreos, haha.

My cousin, Brooke, got married this weekend and despite the rain, everything turned out great!!! We made the most of it and had a great time! We certainly have some fun memories to look back on :)

I am loving this fall weather! It finally feels like it’s October and Halloween is on the way! Speaking of Halloween, we’re going to have more outside decorations this year. So far, it’s looking awesome! Matt does such a good job making the outside of our house and yard look so festive for whichever holiday is coming up! And see, Matt’s been getting Marshall in the Halloween spirit, too ;)

Fall TV is back!! I've already been watching Dancing with the Stars, but I'm SO excited for The Middle and Fresh off the Boat tonight. Love both of those shows! Gives me something to watch and pass the time while working on a Halloween project for Matt--I'll show the finished product once everything's finished!

Fall Favorites

Happy First Day of Fall!

As much as I love summer, I'm so excited for this fall! I'm sure having a baby (not so much a baby anymore :( ) has made me even more excited for this time of year, because of all the fun firsts he still has! I wanted to share a few of my fall favorites and what I'm looking forward to doing this fall!

Going to the fair--I love going to the fair, and I'm so excited it's finally fair time! I have so many favorite things about the fair, but the food is definitely high on the list ;) I also enjoy looking at all of the craft contests, especially the tablescapes that people set up. Every year when I look at them, I say I'm going to do one the next year and enter yet. Maybe one of these days that will happen! I know Marshall is going to enjoy all of the sights and sounds the most, so I can't wait for him to see everything lit up at night!



The leaves changing--Being outside has a totally different feeling when the trees are covered in reds, oranges and yellows.

Decorating--We've already started putting out a few fall decorations and I love it! Matt has bought and made a few things that I can't wait to share! I made this wreath the first fall we were married, and it still looks just as good...well, it did have to be repaired this year, because it was left in a hot room and the hot glue melted and everything fell off.

Going to the pumpkin patch--I can't wait to take Marshall!

Football Games--going to Varina's high school football games is so fun and reminiscent for me.  Being there, hearing the familiar songs the band plays and hearing the cheering in the stands literally takes me back to when I was in high school, going to all the home games every year with my family and our family friends. Going now, as a Varina staff member, I'm not sitting with the same crowd at each game, but it is still like being there with family and friends. It's so much fun! I hope we make it to at least one home game this year. Kick off is right at Marshall's bed time, but maybe he can stay up late one Friday ;)

Scarves--who doesn't love scarf & sweater weather? I feel like I wear the same ones all the time, so here are a few I really like.  This blue and white/black striped one from Target is really fun. It also comes in a few different colors, so I may need more than one ;)  I really love the plaid one, and I think it's great for fall and Christmas. Now, if only I can find one that has green mixed in, I'm sold!

Fall nail polish--I don't typically wear nail polish, but I love fall shades, so I tend to start painting my nails more once fall hits, and through the holidays.  I love these color palettes I've seen on Pinterest. I actually have #1 and absolutely love it!

Halloween--I am SO excited about our Halloween costumes this year!! We're doing a theme as a family and I can't wait to see how everything comes together! We've been excited for quite some time now.  Put it this way, we bought Marshall's costume when we went to Myrtle Beach....LAST year!

Food For Friday: Fall Chex Mix

When it comes to food, especially food I find on Pinterest, I'm usually better at what I find to bake, than the things I find to cook.  Yes, there's a big difference. haha. When I bake things,  there's a much higher percentage that it will actually turn out right!

As soon as I saw this recipe on Pinterest, I knew I was going to try it!  Now, the recipe really calls it Halloween Chex Mix, but I changed the recipe just a little bit, and it turned out looking more "Fall" than "Halloween." haha.  You'll see!

It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Fall!

I've had so much fun decorating for Fall this year! I've just been so very excited for all of the holidays coming up!!

Our excitement and love for Fall is shown all throughout our house, as we've bought some pretty great decorations!

I could try to come up with a mumble-jumble of words to fill in this space, but I'd rather just show you pictures!

Friday Randomness

To say that I'm SO glad it's Friday and I'm ready for the weekend would be a huge understatement!  This week has gone by SO. SLOW. Tuesday through Thursday, I woke up thinking it was Friday, and Thursday night, I went to bed thinking I'd wake up and it would be Saturday! Talk about a disappointment! haha.

This week has also been crazy hectic.  Which is why you've only seen one blog post this week before today's.  I had plans for different posts each day, but I've just been drained each day that I haven't been able to or felt like it some nights.

I do have lots of new pictures to share, and I'm hoping you'll see a lot of those next week!

Our Fall Wreath

It feels like I just shared my summer/wedding wreath with you all, but a couple weeks ago, we took that wreath down and replaced it with a new one!

Since yesterday was the official first day of fall, I figured it's now time to share with you the fall wreath I made!  I had this idea since the summer, so I couldn't wait to finally make it and hang it up! And we didn't wait two seconds to hang it up!

Once school starts, it feels like summer is really over {even though it isn't officially over yet}, so we started putting out some fall decorations, and this wreath was the first to go up! :)

The materials I bought were the wreath, a stem of fall leaves, twine, and a letter N.  All of these were at Michael's, and I was SO excited to find the N in the clearance section for just 49 cents! And, if you've been

Fall at Longwood.

I love this time of year, not because of the colder temperatures, but because of how pretty everything is outside!! Before the trees are completely dead for the winter, I love the pretty colors of the leaves changing! One thing I've really missed is not being at Longwood to see the big pretty tree on the corner at the Cunninghams.  (If you go to/went to Longwood, you know which one I'm talking about.)  This past weekend, I went to visit Matt for the last time while he's at Longwood.  Still not sure how all of these "lasts" have been happening! Craziness.  We specifically knew that we were going to set aside some time over the weekend to just walk around campus and look at all of the reds, oranges and yellows on the trees. Yay!

It was like I was at home again, and I loved it :)

It also helped that it was SO nice outside and the weather was fantastic!!!

There are just so many things I love and miss about Longwood (I could go on forever...) but being there this time of year is definitely something I'll always remember.  Maybe I miss it more because of the pretty tree at the Cunninghams that I walked past several times a day last year going in and out of my residence hall.

All of these pictures also remind me of the time I drove to visit Matt at Ferrum in October of '09.  I LOVVVED driving through the mountains and seeing all of the colors go on forever.  It was just like you'd see it in a movie!
