Craft Catch-up!

The past few weeks have really flown by! I mean, how do we only have THREE days left in July?!

Here's a quick round up of some of the crafts Marshall has been making.  Two of his favorite things are paint and glue, so I try to include at least one of the two in every craft we do!

Baseball is a big topic of conversation in our house and 9 times out of 10, Marshall just wants to throw the ball up in the air and catch it with his glove.  He has gotten REALLY good at it!  So of course, I had to find a baseball craft for him.  This was really simple to do, but he absolutely loved it!

Marshall has also been on a Christmas kick lately, and NOT by any influence from me! 😂
It randomly started when he kept asking to watch Charlie Brown "Chris-Chris" every morning when he woke up, and even brought a Christmas book downstairs for me to read first thing.  Since then, we've watched several more Christmas movies, and I have no problem with that at all! 😉

We also made foam and popsicle stick Popsicles! When I kept telling him we were going to make popsicles, of course he was confused when I had to tell him we couldn't eat them. lol.

This was SUCH a fun and easy activity that Marshall loved way more than I thought.  I wrote out several of these sheets with numbers and letters for him to trace with Q-tips and paint, and he FLEW through them and kept asking me for more.  Not even joking, we probably ended up with at least 20 sheets of tracing that he did and loved so much! We will definitely be doing this again!

Finally, he asked me several times to do a shark craft, so I headed straight to Pinterest.  Marshall was eager to look, too, so he sat down beside me as I scrolled through "shark crafts for toddlers" and this was the one he chose! Coincidentally, we made it after reading Clark the Shark!

Fourth of July Crafts

This week, we did a different patriotic craft or activity every day, and even did the last one at the river yesterday!

We started off by painting some fun fireworks on Monday.  Super easy instructions here.

On Tuesday, Marshall loved making this hand print and fingerprint flag.
He calls his hand prints "high fives" and I love it 😊

On Wednesday, we did a counting worksheet and some coloring pages.
On the worksheet, I told Marshall to write his name on top of this line. He took what I said way too literally. 😂😂

At the river yesterday, Marshall made a necklace out of dried pasta noodles that I dyed red and blue.  Although, Marshall didn't hesitate at all to tell me they were more green than blue. haha
Yes, Marshall. No matter how much blue dye I kept adding, they still had a greenish tint. 😂

Hope you all had a fun Fourth of July!

Our Bedroom: Before & After!

When it's come to home projects and painting, our bedroom was put on the back burner.  I don't really have a reason why, it just happened that way.

We painted two rooms upstairs, found some furniture pieces, and neither room is in any complete.  "My" room upstairs that was intended to be a craft room, isn't quite that.  I have a bookshelf dad made me and I painted white, which does in fact store all of my craft materials.  Well, at least 95% of them.  I also have a bookshelf I've had for years, which my book collection has definitely (and quickly) outgrown.  I also have an awesome chevron chair that I fell in love with, which I rarely sit in, but I know that's where I can always find my notebook that I make our grocery lists in! haha

Matt's mancave has a bit more furniture.  He likes old, wooden, vintage-looking furniture, and he was able to grab a few things from his grandparents that they weren't using.  He also has two very comfortable leather chairs that we picked up at IKEA.  Oh yeah, and a bookshelf for holding a lot of momentos, such as a picture from Nationals for Outdoor track and his CHI Commendation.  Matt has also found and been given decor items to have, such as a standing globe, old golf clubs to hang on the wall, and a picture of cigar labels.  He's definitely been more proactive about buying things to finish his room. haha

Other than what I've mentioned, those two rooms have mostly remained "holding places" for things that have yet to find a home.  Rather than waiting for these rooms to be finished (which may or may not happen), I decided I just wanted to go ahead and take care of our bedroom.  It has been so bland for far too long.  It's definitely still not finished, but at least we've made some great progress!!!

BEFORE:

Time to get to painting!
(Also known as the time I discovered I'm a terrible painter...)

My own Michelangelo painting the ceiling.

So, this is pretty funny.
This spot on the wall is actually purple that somehow wore off of Matt's pillow! I've never seen such a thing.
Good thing it's the same color as the paint that we covered it with! haha

Getting close to the end!

At first, Maple wouldn't come in the bedroom, because she had no idea why everything was moved around (and she couldn't get on the bed).  But when she found the open window that was just her height, she was in a happy place!

AFTER!!

I love the lighting in our room now that we have lamps!!

Matt did a great job painting!! Love how there's both purple and gray on this wall!

Our "his and hers" lamps:

Can you tell I like this pattern?  Mom gave me this awesome candle for Christmas!

So excited about this canvas of one of our FAVORITE wedding pictures! It looks so much better in person!

Abby gave Matt this awesome Doctor Who print for Christmas:

And this mirror we got from my great aunt and uncle! Love the shape of it :)

Our House: My "Craft" Room

This is sad.

My room upstairs has been painted for almost a year now, and I have YET to blog about it...pretty much because the room is no where near put together yet, because it's still a holding place for all of the crap (see....still calling it all "crap" mom, haha) that I've still been moving from my old room/closet. Actually, that's what both of our rooms upstairs are, but we're working on it..I promise! We have multiple things we're working on that go hand-in-hand, so it'll all eventually come together.

I anticipated on this room being a "craft" room, but I use the term very loosely, haha. All of my craft supplies DO now have an organized home in the room but I haven't actually done an ounce of crafting in that room. haha. Mainly because there's no space to work on, other than the floor. So, for the time being, our kitchen table has been been my crafting area when needed.

So, anyway, even though my room is filled with junk, and only has a couple of pieces of furniture in it, I thought I would at least go ahead and show you the final product after painting it! Finally, right?! Don't worry, when I finally do get most of the junk out of the room, or at least more organized, I'll share more pictures...hopefully in a more timely manner, too!

Here are the before pictures:

Here's the color choice: Emerald!
