25 Days of Christmas: Day 5

No matter what the occasion is, I love food! Every Christmas at my house, we usually end up with a great combination of Christmas treats, including: Pretzel Wheels with melted Hershey Kisses and M&M's stuck on top, Mom's Chex Mix and Chocolate Chip Cookies, many others, and last year we added Trash (also called Muddy Mix, etc.).

Also, every year that I can remember (except today-because of the weather- and one other year that it snowed), my family has gone to the Downtown Parade in Richmond with the Sant'Annas. Regardless of how cold it may be, we always have a BLAST! It's just so much fun! When we were younger, we used to start the morning off by meeting at Shoney's for breakfast. Well, eventually, Shoney's got changed to IHOP because, well, in my personal opinion, IHOP is just WAY better! lol
Even though we couldn't go to the parade this year, my family got up this morning and we headed out to IHOP for breakfast, in the rain and everything! On the way, I started wondering if they would have any festive foods for breakfast, just something fun. And sure enough, they have 4 types of Christmas Pancakes: Gingerbread, Egg Nog, Pecan Pie, and Pumpkin! Since I always get the Breakfast Sampler, and pancakes are included, I just knew I was going to get Christmasy pancakes, so I opted for the Gingerbread ones....yes, because they came with sprinkles on them! :)

Here's a [not so good] picture of my Gingerbread pancakes. Sorry, all I had was my camera phone.

P.S. I highly recommend these to everyone! :)

those pancakes sound heavenly! And my post today is food related too! I swear, we must read each others minds....haha. I have a list of 11 more topics...I wonder if we match on any of them!

Hi mallory,

I love the holiday season and all the wonderful traditions that come with it! I saw your picture of IHOP pancakes. I used to go to IHOP with my family for their holiday hotcakes, but now we may want to keep in mind that the company has been exposed for food safety issues and animal cruelty in its supply chain. For more details, please check out www.humanesociety.org/ihop.

Just wanted to let you know what is going on at IHOP. Thank you for your time and have a lovely holiday season!

Sincerely,
