This evening, we all went out and did our last race of the year. We participated in the Tacky Light Run, and yes, it's as fun as it sounds! We pulled out our tackiest, most Christmasy things we could find and wore them all tonight! Okay, and by "we" I mean Mom, Abby and I were the only ones who went all out!! Matt and Dad, well, they did some, but they didn't pull out the Christmas pajama pants or curling ribbons. haha!
It was a little chilly, but it was so much fun! The race course is set up through a neighborhood, and you get to see all of the Christmas lights--classic, tacky, wacky (like a guy that was dressed as a shark that ended up walking with mom, lol), and just 110% Christmasy! It seems that the neighborhood held a contest for the homeowners, where they could enter their house into a certain category. There were signs in the front yards (you'll see some pictures below) stating which category they were entered in, and you could vote on your favorite! It was also like a huge block party--everyone who lived in the neighborhood lined the streets with their camp chairs, small fires, and music, and cheered everyone on! Some went more out than others and tents you could walk up to, but we didn't do any of that.
Now, for lots of fun pictures!
Ready to go!
Santa!
"...we passed through the seven levels of the Candy Cane Forest..."
Mom waving to Santa on the left and Christmas Vacation playing on the right!!
They were out of cookies when we got there :(
But, there were cookies at the end as the post-race food. What kind? Ukrop's Rainbow Cookies, of course!!!
Frozen!
This was a beautiful, classic house.
This one was really neat, because the lights were projected onto the house.
Matt got some awesome pictures on his GoPro!
Dad said the one LED-lit deer in this scene looks like a Patronus. haha
Dad, Abby and Mom walking through the finish line..
Coolest bib number and finisher's medal!
And, we're already making plans for next year....better costumes are included! Feel free to join us for some fun! The more the merrier!!
